Seoul taxi fares at a glance
A regular (mid-size) Seoul taxi starts at ₩4,800 for the first 1.6 km. After that the meter adds ₩100 every 131 m, and ₩100 every 30 seconds when the car moves slower than about 15.7 km/h. The final fare is rounded to the nearest ₩100.
| Time | Base (1.6 km) | Per 131 m / 30 s |
|---|---|---|
| Daytime (4 am–10 pm) | ₩4,800 | ₩100 |
| 10–11 pm, 2–4 am (+20%) | ₩5,800 | ₩120 |
| 11 pm–2 am (+40%) | ₩6,700 | ₩140 |
Trips that leave the city limits add another 20%, and combined surcharges can reach 60%. Deluxe (black “모범”) and large taxis cost more than the regular fares above.
Paying and tipping
Most Seoul taxis take credit cards and T-money. Tipping is not expected. Taxi apps like Kakao T show an estimate before you ride; the meter fare is what you pay unless you book a fixed-price ride.
